Bachelor Program ini Statistics and Data Science – SSMI IPB University is a higher education provider that produces graduates with excellent competencies in statistics, data analytics, and data science. This program is known as the best study program in Indonesia with alumni who have been spread out as leaders in various multinational companies and government institutions.

Historically, the existence of this program began in 1972 through the Biometrics Unit at the Faculty of Agriculture, initiated by Prof. Andi Hakim Nasution. It then developed into a Statistics Undergraduate Study Program managed by the Statistics Department – Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences since 1980.

The rapid development of science and applications in the field of data was further anticipated by changing the study program to the Statistics and Data Science Study Program in 2020. Since 2024, this study program has been managed by the School of Data Science, Mathematics, and Informatics (SSMI).

In the 2024/2025 academic year, the total number of active students from this study program is 421 students. A total of 29 lecturers are involved in organizing the academic activities.

The Statistics and Data Science Undergraduate Study Program has an excellent national reputation, including:

• Its students became the Grand Champion of Satria Data in 2022, 2023, and 2024
• Currently, Prof. Dr. Anang Kurnia holds the position of Chairman of the Indonesian Statisticians Association for the period of 2023-2028
• Dr. Bagus Sartono holds the position of President of FORSTAT (Indonesian Statistics Higher Education Forum) for the period of 2024-2026
